We’ve got options for you: Intern (Entry Level: I-1, Experienced: I-2, I-3) and Work (INdependent Contractor).

 

What Do We do on the farm?

We Transplant and Direct Seed Flowers, Vegetables, melons, and Pumpkins.

Have you ever wanted to work on a farm?

Do you enjoy working outside, surrounded by nature and fresh air? Would you like to volunteer in a garden or help with farm animals?  Have you wanted to learn something new and challenging without having to fully Commit to a new experience such as farming? Would you like to get paid while learning how to farm, while receiving guidance from more experienced farmers, before trying to take on a farm project of your own?  Well… we have options for you.   

What are we looking for?

Someone who is capable and can do it all (or is at least willing to learn), enjoys working hard and with others, and has a positive outlook and desire to help.

 
 

We take care of bees.

Duration:

We prefer for people to commit to 1 year, but will consider a 6 - 11 month period as well.  Generally, most people will start at V-1 for at least 12 weeks (exceptions are possible on a case by case basis (I-1) with previous farming experience, and at the discretion of FarmResort staff) and may advance from there.  This allows time for us to see if you are a good fit for us and for you to see if we are a good fit for you.  It also allows for people new to the farm, and farming in General, to learn at a safe and comfortable pace, with the option for increasing responsibility and pay as time goes on.  If you are interested and/or would like more information, please email your resume to: farmresortusa@gmail.com  

General Requirements for working at FarmResort: 

18 years of age or older, and legally able to work in the US

Must have reliable transportation.

Must be able to pass a credit and background check

Must possess or acquire a current Food Handler’s Certification and TABC Alcohol Server’s Certification.

We cut and bale hay.

Work Tasks Include:

Working on team projects that include but are not limited to:  Gardening (preparing and clearing garden beds, starting seeds and soil blocks, planting seeds in the ground, transplanting plants into the ground, raking, setting up and managing irrigation, harvesting garden vegetables, flowers, and plants. washing and packaging and selling garden produce). Animal management:  moving, feeding, watering, and general care for animals). Bee management. Fencing - building, repairing, and maintaining fencing. Hay Production. light construction work: building hoop houses and structures for animals. Food Preparation, Baking, Cooking, Serving, Cleaning. Lifting and moving heavy objects. participating in the Farmers Market, diners, parties, and events. Participating in Winery activities.  Lake activities - maintenance and cleaning of water vessels and fishing equipment.  

Hours:

Time: 9am - 6pm, Saturdays and Sundays.

**Warning**

Working on a farm can be very hard and strenuous work and often involves manual labor.  You are discouraged from applying if doing manual labor would endanger your health or if it would be overly burdensome for you.  Farming can also sometimes involve inherently dangerous work: working with large or potentially dangerous animals (like bulls) and large, heavy, and potentially dangerous farming equipment (like tractors and mowers and tillers). Farming can also involve working outside in harsh weather conditions (in the heat in the summer, in the rain, and in the cold in winter, etc).

 
 

We build hoop houses and other structures.

I-1 Minimum commitment:

Entry Level Internship. 1 weekend a month (Saturdays and Sundays).  Pay: none.  Tasks: Learn, Ask Questions, Have Fun.  You will be an extra set of hands and helper for some tasks and will generally follow the guidance of the more experienced members on the team.

We move dirt and do a little tractor work sometimes.

 
 

We host events and parties sometimes.

I-2 Minimum commitment:

2 weekends a month (Saturdays and Sundays). Pay: $5 per hour. Work on group tasks and assist with projects under the guidance of the more experienced members of the team. 

I-3 Minimum commitment:

3 weekends a month (Saturdays and Sundays).  Pay: $10 per hour. More independence and responsibility on farm projects.  Should be able to do some tasks alone when needed.  After achieving experience and proficiency, start to learn how to use the tractor (when applicable), with an experienced team member (likely minimal use).  

 

And then we keep on working…

 
 

Level 3: Independent Contractors: IC

Independent Contractor: IC

Full Time - All Saturdays and Sundays, with some weekdays as well.  (Time off can be scheduled and arranged).  Pay: $15 per hour.   Should be able to work independently and help to guide and direct other team members.  Should acquire skills and aptitude with the use of the tractor, when applicable.  Should be able to plant, maintain, and harvest crops.  Should have / acquire a working knowledge of farm animals and how to care for them.  Should be able to fully integrate into FarmResort productions and events (Farmers Market, Winery, Festivals, Events, etc).
