Whiterock
Resort is please to host weddings,
anniversaries, family reunions, fund-raisers, class
reunions, birthday parties, or other parties
that brings your friends and family together, and corporate
retreats. You will find attentive and personal service while planning and staging your
party.
In warm weather, the Resort has facilities to handle parties up to 500 people
(and as small as 8 people) at the River House. From mid-October until
mid-April, we can handle parties of up to 30 in our River House Basement, or parties of up
to 24 in our Garst Farm Lodge Headquarters.
RIVER
HOUSE PARTY FACILITIES
The River House lies at the heart of the valley,
timber and prairie surrounds it. The house and barn date
from the turn of the century, and they are charming. Liz’s gardens
are available for viewing; she grows perennials, flowers for drying and a large gourd
patch each year Centerpieces often come from her gardens. The facility can accommodate small, elegant dinners or
an outdoor feast for 500. (Groups larger than 125 may consider tent
rental to insure against rain problems.) We specialize is fabulous country food, and
can accommodate your special requests. We do not have a liquor license, but can
accommodate service of beer, wine, Champaign and/or mixed drinks.
The River House Basement can seat
30 (and more in a rainy pinch.) This party room includes a walkout
patio and two bathrooms, one which is handicapped-accessible. The fun decor includes a stuffed buffalo head, maps of
the area, old tools, tracks of local animals, excellent photographs, local deer rack light
fixtures and a nice fireplace. The kitchen is licensed as a restaurant, and
buffet meals can be served indoors or out. The walk out patio is typically
where food is grilled and food and drinks are served.
Menus
The River House Yard offers 25
picnic tables, a variety of seating areas, quite a bit of shade and many charming landscapes. (The River House Yard
is a favorite venue for High School Senior Photos in this area.) Tables and chairs
can be rented for very large groups. The "hog roasting shed"
contains not only a hog spit barbecue, but also a huge cast iron pot over a fire pit, used
to cook sweet corn or crawdaddy river soup. The shed also makes an ideal place to
put cold pop on block ice, and serve keg beer. In addition to the two modern bathrooms in the basement, a charming and clean two-seated outhouse (with moon)
is placed next to the barn. Kybos can be rented for very large
groups. A horseshoe court and volleyball court
are available for party guests.
(We can help you set up for a pit barbecue.
However, pit barbecues involve tending a large fire most of the previous night. It is a
sport, available if you want to try it. We will provide technical advice and supplies but
will not stay up all night with you.)
The River House Barn is a great
place to bring your friends to dance.
The barn can easily seat 75 and the dance floor also makes
an intimate but informal meeting room in warmer weather. The
Barn is unique, charming and has a long history as a dance
barn. We light the barn with lanterns hung from wagon wheels. The hayloft
balcony provides wonderful viewing of the dance floor below and many a DJ has
headquartered on this balcony. The dance floor is circled with tables, provides a spot for
the band, and opens on to the deck, which is also a great place to dance. The basement
offers a bar and indoor tables if the evening is cool or wet. During breaks, enjoy the
river from the deck, or stroll the beautiful grounds.
If you want to offer more than dancing, food and ambiance consider offering your guests
horseback rides. Guests can enjoy rides from the River House. For a more sedate
adventure, try the hay rack ride. Round
trips can be taken until all your guests have had a turn. Rent our gators to take
guests out to see the woods, prairies and ponds.
The Garst Farm Lodge Dining Room can accommodate up to 14 diners
and an additional 10 diners can be seated in the Living Room. The living room is large,
comfortable and elegant ... ideal for hor d'ourves and drinks. The accommodation is
priced as part of the meal price. Menus.
The Oakridge Country House can accommodate about 30
diners. The yard is lovely, and a charcoal grill is available. You can cook your own if
your group is renting rooms, or we would be happy to cater if you are staying overnight.
