View from Oak Ridge
Oak Ridge is a huge, private farmhouse, far into the country on a
ridge overlooking Whiterock Valley. A beautiful oak
grove and fruit trees surround the house. Cows often grace a
nearby pasture. Deer, coyote, and wild turkeys are frequently spotted from the
house. Fishing ponds are within
walking distance, and there is a basketball hoop
on the garage. A bonfire ring in the
yard is often used for evening campfires. Our rental
telescope is kept here ... the skies are dark.
Oak Ridge offers full amenities, including air-conditioning,
a VCR, iron and ironing board, basketball, croquet set, dart board, an extensive
library and all linens. There are two hot water heaters, and very high quality
mattresses. The decor includes Guatemalan bedspreads and wall hangings, locally
made beds and tables, and a collection of stuffed wildlife. This informal house is fun to be in!

Bedroom
Marvin the Moose
The house has 5 bedrooms,
with an official sleeping capacity of 13. The first floor bedroom contains a queen
and a twin. Three bedrooms upstairs are usually configured with two twin
beds each, though with advance notice, linens are available to make these bedrooms into
short king beds. The 4th upstairs bedroom contains two queen beds and a
seating area. There are two full bathrooms in the house (1st floor and 2nd
floor) and also an upstairs hallway sink ideal for shaving and tooth-brushing. Many
family reunion groups tuck in extra kids in the spacious living room and the ample
bedrooms.
Living Room
The
kitchen is equipped to serve 30
people. It includes a full-sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee pot,
charcoal grill, dishes and utensils. Several locally made tables and
two outdoor picnic tables provide ample seating.
An optionalself
serve continental breakfast is available at theGarst Farm Lodge, and it is well worth enjoying
at least one morning of your visit. Groups of 8 or more can also arrange lunches
and/or dinners ... at the Garst Lodge, at the River House, or brought to Oak Ridge.

Two garage dog kennels are
available. Dogs can be inside
Oakridge, but ONLY IF YOU ARE WITH THEM and IF YOU KEEP THEM OFF THE FURNITURE.
There is plenty of room in the facility for your own dog kennel.
Prices: $180 (for 6 or less, one night) to $300
(10-13 guests, one night). Minimum 2 night stay on weekends. $5/person/night extra if more than 13 people. Optional breakfast $5/person
at the Lodge.
