Many Whiterock Resort activities can be enjoyed by day visitors as well as overnight
guests. Reservations are required for all activities,
and some may not be available on short notice. Here are some of your choices to
consider:
Canoe the River. We rent canoes for a 3 - 4 hour float on the
Middle Fork of the Raccoon River. The river is lovely, and the emergency procedure, should
you tip over in most river conditions, is to stand up. Life jackets and shuttle service
provided. The cost is $15 per canoe, plus $15 for shuttle service for your entire party.
Mountain Bikes. We have adult mountain bikes,
and provide access to a very private and lovely 4500 acre property free
to our overnight guests.
Astronomy Tours. Our astronomer, Drew Sorenson provides a
free, guided
1 ½ hour tour of the night sky in one of the darkest places
in Iowa. This tour is only available on the first Friday of each month.

Farm History Talk and Tour. Liz Garst or staff
person provides
a talk and tour of the Garst Farm Lodge. Hear about the early days of
hybrid seed corn, and the events leading up to Soviet Premier Nikita
Khrushchev's historic visit in 1959. See historic photographs, a
beautifully restored farm house of the 1940s era, antiques and gardens.
The 1 ½ hour talk and tour for small groups is $35. You are always
welcome to visit the basement gift shop. A guided commercial
agricultural tour is also available for $50/hour.

sales tax. Major credit cards and checks are accepted. We
