IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)CANOEING
canoing.JPG (19939 bytes)A leisurely float from Riverside Park in Coon Rapids to the River House takes about three hours and provides views of  fascinating sandstone bluffs (Geology) and deep woods.  805 River, our primitive camping cabin, makes a nice pit stop. Generally, the river is shallow and the river is suitable for younger children .... the emergency procedure, should you tip over, is to stand up .  If the river is high, Resort staff will advise you.  In late summer, canoe floats are not available if the river is very low.  We have 10 aluminum canoes for rent.  Each canoe holds 3 or 4 passengers.

IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)Of course, life vests are provided and helmets are offered. Typically, you drive to and park at the Campground..  Resort staff shuttle you up river, and you float back to your car.  A Canoe Waiver of Liability is required.

Prices Half Day Trip:     $15/canoe plus $15 shuttle fee for the whole group

IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)MOUNTAIN BIKES
moutainbiking2.JPG (16552 bytes)We have 8 mountain bikes available for our overnight guests.. Sizes range from 15 to 19 inches (no bikes for younger children). The trail is quite hilly and can be wet in spots, but there are unlimited nooks and crannies of the valley to explore.  Helmets are provided.  Bikers are asked to respect the flora of the valley and strictly honor our Rules of the Trail.

Prices for Mountain Bikes:   Free to overnight guests

IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)GATOR RENTAL
gator.JPG (24298 bytes)Gators are made by John Deere Company, and resemble high-powered golf carts.  They are ideal for cruising the valley to see the sights, picnic suppers, and fishing by the ponds. Rentals are limited to overnight guests and drivers must be over 18.  Gators are a wonderful treat for people unable to hike.   For family picnic or fishing excursions, we hitch on a trailer to haul the kids and equipment.   A Gator Waiver of Liability is required.

Prices:   $5 per hour plus $4 per 1/10th engine hour
For example, a typical 3 hour trip to great fishing ponds or remote campfire grounds costs about $27.   A  trip to 805 River and back takes about one hour and costs about $40.   Non-stop cruising costs $45 per hour.

IVYBULLET.jpg (983 bytes)STAR GAZING
The Resort offers some of the darkest skies in the Midwest, with little light pollution from cities and yard lights, especially along the south rim of the valley.  Just find a quiet hill and look up for a great night sky.  Or, rent an easy-to-use 8 inch Dobsonian reflector telescope. Star Charts are provided, and you can check out  The Skies This Week to find out what's notable in the sky.  The Astronomy Tour, offered once  a month, is the easiest way to make your way around the stars.

Prices:  Telescope rental, includes use of sky charts and stool.  $10 per night.
