805 River Cabin sits between a spring-fed
pond and the Raccoon River, in a beautiful, secluded valley teeming with wildlife. Deer, wild turkey, coyote, beaver, cranes and
songbirds fill the surrounding woods and nearby clearing. There is
nice fishing in the pond, but please throw back any bass. The cabin is 2 miles from the nearest
gravel road. You can drive to the cabin in dry conditions; however, if
conditions are muddy (5% of the time) you must walk the last half-mile into the
valley.
805 River,
moved into the valley from 805 Main Street, Coon Rapids, many years ago, is a primitive facility without electricity. The
acreage includes an old-fashioned outhouse
and a warm weather shower house with potable, solar-heated
water. A picnic table, fire ring, and clothes line are
provided. Firewood is available to purchase.
The cabin
includes a small bedroom (with queen and twin), a living/sitting room (with twin), an
upstairs loft (with queen) and a small kitchen. Two
queen and two twin foam mattresses
on platform beds are provided ... you bring the linens or sleeping bags. The
glass-less, screen windows are covered with shutters and a wood-burning
stove can make this house cozy except in the coldest months of the
year. A small table and chairs, Coleman lantern are
provided. Firewood is available to purchase.
An optional self serve continental
breakfast is available at the Garst Farm Lodge, and it is well worth enjoying at least one morning of your visit.
Dogs
are welcome at 805 River. Horses can
also be kept at the cabin, although frequently, trailers and heavy rigs must be kept at
the top of the ridge line (1/2 mile from cabin), depending on conditions of the
trail. We do not enforce vaccination requirements
at this venue, however it is encouraged for your own protection. NO ATVs allowed.
Prices: $60 for first night plus $30 per night for
subsequent nights
+ $8/Horse/Night +
$4/person more more than 10 people + steel pens available for $8 a night
